Free Yoga in Little India is all about utilising community spaces in Little India in a fun new way, with the hope of bringing together the communities that inhabit and visit this culturally rich neighbourhood on a Sunday morning.

Daya holds 200-hr and 300-hr Yoga Teacher certificates. Her teaching is grounded in her daily personal practice and unceasing, deeper research from the vast wealth of contemplative practices. Learning and teaching are the necessary and indissoluble sides of the same coin, life as a journey of personal research in self-knowledge.

Balakrishnan Matchap

Balakrishnan Matchap is a 300 hours yoga teacher trained by Jivamukti Yoga School (NYC). He is back in Singapore after a 4 year learning and teaching stint in Europe. Founder of YEAH! (Yogis for the Environment, Animals and Humanity!), Bala has special interest in community work, animal advocacy and nature preservation. His fun and uplifting sessions incorporate sound (with didgeridoo & singing bowls), spoken word and poetic affirmations.

Tammie Tan

Tammie took her first Yoga class in 2010 as a desperate attempt to walk out of depression. That was the start of her personal healing. Yoga helped Tammie quieten the mind, separate herself from her depressive thoughts, and be in touch with her bigger heart. Today, everyday is still a practice of compassion, transforming self-doubt into self-acceptance. Tammie became a certified Yoga instructor with Dr Venky’s Shivshakti Yoga Institute in 2017. She hopes to assist others in developing a mindful practice and experiencing the benefits of Yoga.

Cheryl believes in providing solid guidance in alignment and challenges that enable students to determine the intensity of their training, allowing practitioners to strengthen their practice at a pace that’s befitting for their bodies. She’s also always excited to help people find flight on the mats. Check out Cheryl's instagram: @colourrun

Long-lost tales of Little India and its local community are resurrected through murals, public art installation and free performances for the fourth edition of ARTWALK Little India, aptly themed Urban Mythology.

Presented by LASALLE College of The Arts and Singapore Tourism Board with the support of Little India Shopkeepers and Heritage Association, 2018’s edition sees greater collaboration with a Singapore-based line up of artists and performers to explore, narrate, celebrate and relive stories of this historical precinct.

With an array of programmes and fringe activities happening on 18-20 and 25-27 January 2018, Thursdays - Saturdays, 6-9pm, be sure to mark your calendars for a multi-sensory public art experience and stay up-to-date with the latest news, information and announcements in the coming weeks by following #ARTWALKLittleIndia.
